The Family Caregiver Support Program may be able to help you continue caring for your loved one!
Family Caregiver Support Program benefits for caregivers include:
The Family Caregiver Support Program serves caregivers of loved ones age 60 and older and also caregivers of loved ones who are under the age of 60 and have a diagnosis of Dementia or related disorders.
Confidential support groups are held for the forgotten heroes, the family caregiver. Caregivers provide care to relatives with Alzheimer’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and other debilitating diseases. While most of the caregivers provide in-home care to their loved one, some are family members of long term care facility residents.
Caring for an elderly relative in the home can be a formidable and stressful experience. All caregivers may feel overwhelmed at one time or another. While many community services focus on the ill or disabled relative, support systems for the caregiver are often scarce. Group participants share common experiences and provide support to one another. Facilitators and information are provided by the B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging and Elder Law attorney Leslie Wizelman’s office. Caregiver Support Groups are held monthly as follows:
2nd and 4th Tuesdays in the Library of The Personal Care Home of Memorial Hospital from 12:00 p.m. to 1 p.m.
2nd Tuesday at the B/S/S/T AAA Wellsboro Office from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
